Our Story
The last few years of the pandemic era have unprecedentedly impacted the human race. Health crisis led to social isolation, the pain of losing loved ones, and the realization of the fragility of life, awakened individuals to ask the fundamental question – Why and what am I doing? Or a more straightforward question – can we do something more purposeful?
This awakening and the resultant change in our thought processes led us toward creating new learning opportunities for ourselves and others by positively impacting society.
As we started our journey, we understood that our interests lay in aviation. Not surprisingly, we also realized that climate change, sustainability, and multi-planetary explorations were some of the most talked-about topics in the last few years. Our children, who ranged from Elementary to High school and were a part of the Civil Air Patrol, US Air Force Auxiliary, had a significant influence on us too. Their interest aligned with ours as we naturally gravitated towards learning to fly, thereby getting a Pilot’s license.
With an engineering background and a curious mind, we dwelled on the science behind these flying machines, which led us to take on the more complex challenge of designing our airplanes. The idea was not just to build an airplane but to take on a challenge we would not have dreamed of during the pre-COVID era. We soon realized that people generally felt that one has to be a "rocket scientist or an aeronautical engineer" to do anything remotely close in this field. We discovered, though, that we could build our own airplane ground up with the right kind of support and knowledge.
We took a leap of faith, pooled some money, set up our lab in the garage, and decided to design & build a two-seater single-engine aircraft (Vans RV7). It naturally involved a lot of reading, watching tons of videos, and meeting people with experience. Soon enough, our kids got interested, too. They joined in, and the more they worked, the more they realized it was 'NOT rocket science.' Their interest grew as they saw the airplane coming to life.
As we progressed on this journey, we pondered how amazing it would be to share this experience to develop curiosity in young minds about aviation & aerospace. We decided to transform what we started as a hobby into an educational experience for more kids to learn and get inspired. We were convinced that this exposure would create a purposeful learning experience and a practical advantage as the kids move on to their college lives and beyond.
This gave birth to wrightWINGs, an EdTech company with the purpose: "To inspire and develop curious, eager minds for the exciting business and career opportunities in Aviation & Aerospace."
Our Values
Be Inspirational
It all starts with inspiration. Inspiration awakens us to new possibilities by allowing us to transcend our ordinary experiences and limitations.
Be Curious
Most of the breakthrough discoveries and remarkable inventions throughout history have something in common: Curiosity.
Be Courageous
Courage gives us the power to chase things that are important to us. It also bolsters self-confidence and allows us to believe in our abilities.
